Women In Agriculture & Rural Livelihoods
ABOUT PROJECT
This research project “Women in Agriculture and Rural Livelihoods – Promoting Gender Equity within and by Agricultural Programs” has an objective of gaining a deeper knowledge about the situation of women in agriculture in Ethiopia in order to support development projects in their endeavour to work towards gender equity.
This study aims at assessing the effects of different forms of intervention by the state and development organizations on gender equity and wants to make suggestions how to improve them. The study shall help to develop actionable and credible program elements / activities towards gender equality in their intervention areas and among their target groups. The project will produce a set of survey documents that detail women’s situation, inequality and pathways towards equality at cluster level. This will include a data set for reporting on gender inequality by the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
The project will have its own management team, which is steered at the strategic level by a SteCom. The implementing partner in Ethiopia primarily concerned with administrative matters will be OSSREA (Organization for Social Research in Eastern Africa) which has organized research in the wider region successfully for 40 years.
