Training on Gender Mainstreaming

OSSREA organised for the second time the training on Gender Mainstreaming from 23-27 October 2006 at the Ghion Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The workshop was officially opened by the Executive Secretary of OSSREA, Dr. Alfred G. Nhema.

The participants of the training were drawn from nine Eastern and Southern African countries, namely: Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The facilitators of the training were also identified from within the Region. While Dr. Regina Karega from Kenyatta University was the lead trainer, Dr. Hirut Tereffe, from Addis Ababa University, and Dr. Magdalena K. Ngaiza, from University of Dar Es Salaam, were the facilitators of the training. The names and distribution of the participants was as follows:
