The China Center for Contemporary World Studies (CCCWS) Visits OSSREA

The China Center for Contemporary World Studies (CCCWS) delegation, comprising of six members and led by H.E. Mr. Du Yanling, Deputy Director-General of CCCWS, paid a visit to the Organisation for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA) headquarters on 23 September 2006. The delegates were received by Dr. Alfred G. Nhema, the Executive Secretary of OSSREA and held important discussions regarding the Chinese-African relations.

During the meeting, the Executive Secretary briefed the delegates on OSSREA’s goals and objectives, and its activities throughout the region. The discussions also centred around Chinese-African relations at the economic levels and the role that regional integration and international trade can play in the development of Africa. On his part, H.E. Mr. Du Yaling, after thanking the OSSREA Secretariat for the warm reception, explained the mission and objectives of the China Center for Contemporary World Studies (CCCWS). The Deputy Director-General also mentioned that the 50th Anniversary of Chinese-African Cooperation would be held in Beijing, China, in November 2006.

At the end of the discussions H. E. Mr. Du Yaling, on behalf of his delegates, appreciated the achievements and contributions of OSSREA to the African continent and the African people, and expressed his hope to further enhance the cooperation between the two institutions in the future.
