Applications for the 19th Social Science Research and the 17th Gender Issues Grant Competition

The Nineteenth Social Science Research GRANT Competition

The Nineteenth Social Science Research Grant Competition was announced on 21st February 2005 and the deadline for submitting proposals was 30th April 2005. Consequently, a total of eighty five applications were received. In accordance with the schedule drawn by the Secretariat, a jury of three members met for two days, from 13 to 14 June 2005, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to select the winners. The jury members were:

The distribution of applicants across the countries in the region is as follows: Ethiopia (18), Kenya (30), South Africa (3), Sudan (4), Tanzania (13), Uganda (6), Zambia (1) and Zimbabwe (10). A detailed profile of the applicants is presented below.

The Seventeenth Gender Issues Research Grant Competition

The announcement for the Seventeenth Gender Issues Research Grant Competition was made, and the subsequent jury meeting was held from 13-14 June 2005. The jurors involved in selection of the winners for the award were:
