Research Dissemination Workshops on the HIV/AIDS Challenge in Africa
OSSREA organised research dissemination workshops under its the HIV/AIDS Challenge in Africa programme. The workshops were organised from October to December 2005 in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa and Zimbabwe. At the workshops, OSSREA-sponsored researchers in the HIV/AIDS Challenge in Africa research programme presented their findings to the wider public in their respective countries. The workshops were also organised with the aim of obtaining constructive criticisms and suggestions which will enrich the quality of the research. Furthermore, such an exercise is believed to be one of the steps in facilitating and promoting the utilisation of research findings by various concerned organisations, policy makers, practitioners and researchers. For this purpose, the workshops were attended by researchers from various universities, and by government officials, members of NGOs, CSOs, CBOs, as well as by journalists, representatives of various donor agencies and UN specialisation agencies.
The workshops in Kenya and Zimbabwe were organised in collaboration with the OSSREA Chapters in each of the countries. In South Africa, the Health Economics and HIV/AIDS Research Division (HEARD) of the University of Kwazulu Natal (UKZN) collaborated with OSSREA.
