Meeting of Experts on Preparation of the Training Manual on Paravets
The Dryland Husbandry Project in Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan and Uganda are using manuals to train pastoralists and agro-pastoralists as Community Animal Health Workers /Paravets to look after their animals. Veterinarians from Mekelle University, Ethiopia; University of Nairobi, Kenya; University of Khartoum, Sudan; and Makerere University Uganda held a meeting in November 2003 in the OSSREA Secretariat in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to integrate the four country manuals into one volume. The Training Manual on Paravets is now ready for publication and is expected to serve the four DHP countries and the continent in general. Prof. Dafa Alla Ibrahim Osman, Dr. Melaku Tefera, Dr. Dickson M. Nyariki and Dr. Savino Biryomumaisho have worked hard to prepare the Training Manual.hree members of OSSREA staff have completed their studies and been awarded degrees and diploma on 26 July 2003. Mrs. Etalem Engeda was awarded her degree in Economics, from the Department of Economics, Addis Ababa University. Mrs. Meskerem Mulatu was awarded her diploma in Foreign Language and Literature from the Institute of Language Studies, Addis Ababa University. Ms. Selamawit Getachew was awarded her degree in Sociology from the Department of Sociology and Social Administration, Addis Ababa University.
