Sub-Regional Social Science Research Methodology Training
Due to the unmet huge demand for the programme, OSSREA replicated the regional training at sub-regional levels. Accordingly, training programmes in Kenya and South Africa were held in November and December 2003, respectively. The Research Methodology Training in Kenya was held from 17th – 30th November 2003. Twenty-four young scholars from countries of Eastern Africa participated in the training workshop. The country breakdown of the participants is: Ethiopia (3), Kenya (10), Malawi (2), Rwanda (1), Swaziland (1), Sudan (1), Tanzania (3) and Uganda (3).
At the end of the training workshop, the participants were awarded certificates of attendance by Dr. Alfred G. Nhema, OSSREA’s Executive Secretary. The closing ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary for Education, representatives of NGOs and Vice-Chancellors.
The Research Methodology Training in South Africa was held from 8th – 19th December 2003. Twenty-three young scholars from countries of Southern Africa participated in the training workshop. The country breakdown of the participants is: Botswana (2), Lesotho (1), Mauritius (1), Mozambique (1), Namibia (1), South Africa (10), Swaziland (1), Zambia (2) and Zimbabwe (4).
At the end of the training workshop, the participants were awarded certificates of attendance by Dr. Alfred G. Nhema, OSSREA’s Executive Secretary. The closing ceremony was attended by a member of the judiciary, Members of Parliament, Vice-Chancellors and members of the private sector.
