OSSREA MISSION: Developing and promoting the emergence of a distinctive African Tradition in the study, research and training in the Social Sciences.
Position: Publication & Documentation Officer
Details of Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, organise and coordinate publication activities of OSSREA;
Ensure the timely publication of all OSSREA publications and research outputs;
Be responsible for the dissemination of OSSREA’s research outputs with a view to ensuring policy/research interface;
Manage the OSSREA documentation centre;
Carry out publicity and public relations duties;
Assist in the preparation of research proposals;
Perform such other related tasks as may be assigned by the Executive Secretary from time to time.
Qualifications and experience
A Ph.D. degree in any branch of the Social Sciences;
Must have a minimum of 5 years research and publishing experience gained within a research/university institution; at least a continuous period of three years to have been spent in Eastern and/or Southern Africa;
Have an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment;
Ability to work in a team and under time pressure;
Some experience in dealing with donor agencies;
Proficiency in oral and written communication skills in English.
Duration: A three-year contract renewable for one more term on successful performance.
Remuneration: A competitive salary commensurate with the applicant’s experience and qualifications.
