The Nature and
Causes of the Deepening African Economic Crisis
Teshome Mulat
Abstract: The paper examines the nature and causes of the deepening African crises. It argues that Africa’s economic crises are deeply rooted in the past. It states that these crises are continuing and deepening. It suggests that the way out seems in what the African countries can and should do for themselves. It further suggests that the exploitation of regional arrangements and agreements for development can be a potent weapon in the fight against the continuing saga of the African economic crises.
