Abstract: The study sets out to examine gender inequalities in the teaching staff of boy’s and girl’s secondary schools in Tanzania with a sample population of teachers in seven boys’ and eight girls’ schools in Dar es Salaam, Kiliminjaro and Mwanza regions. Most of the data were collected using questionnaires. The study findings indicate that there is a low number of female teachers compared to their male counterparts. The study concludes that gender discrimination has severely restricted the quality and options of education open to women. The author recommends that barriers to full participation of women in the society be removed.
