5S Ethiopia Research Dissemination Workshop in Gambella on Scabies Among Refugees
In Gambella, Ethiopia, a research dissemination workshop was convened by the Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA) in partnership with the United Kingdom's Brighton & Sussex Medical School (BSMS). The workshop focused on the research evidence on a neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), called scabies. The workshop, a part of the 'Social Sciences for Severe Stigmatizing Skin Diseases (The 5-S Foundation)' research project, disseminated key findings and fostered collaboration among stakeholders.
This collaborative effort brought together 23 stakeholders from various sectors, including the Gambella Refugee and Returnees Service Branch, Gambella Health Bureau, and Nguenyyiel Refugee Camp. The workshop, funded by the UK's National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), highlighted research efforts in understanding scabies vulnerability among refugees in Gambella.
