Acknowledgments

The Research team of the Cross-border Livestock Trade and OSSREA acknowledge the support rendered by all for the successful completion of this research. People in the southern and southeastern Weredas (Districts) of Ethiopia who are too many to list by name helped during the field survey. The enumerators who are from the study area were instrumental in the administration of the trader interview. The cross-border traders and brokers were more than willing to provide information on their activities. We thank them all.

The research team would also like to acknowledge the support it received during the study from GTZ/BLPDP, SCF/USA, CARE, South Ethiopia Synod, Ethiopian Government Department of Agriculture at Zonal and Wereda levels, the livestock development officers at Mandera and Moyale, Kenya and the border officers at Moyale, Ethiopia.

The study was financed by the Collaborative Research Support Program of Broadening Access and Strengthening Input Market Systems (BASIS-CRSP) of the USA. OSSREA is grateful for BASIS-CRSP for the research funds. The staffs of BASIS-CRSP were helpful specially at the early stage of the research. Prof. Peter Little assisted in setting the research question at the Horn of Africa level in general and in the development of traders interview in particular.
